Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at if you cannot find an answer to your question.

  •  To file an individual tax return (a Form 1040 series return), you need to have proof of identity (such as a valid photo ID) and a valid identification number (either a Social Security Number or an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number).
  • You need to be able to show income. Most people receive a Form W-2, while some who work for themselves may receive a 1099-NEC or a 1099-MISC. Other common income documents people receive include 1099-DIV, 1099-INT, 1099-R, 1099-SS, or 1099-B. Some people use their bank statements to document their income by depositing everything they receive into a designated account.
  • Many people have allowable expenses they can use to reduce their income for tax purposes. Depending on their situation, these can include medical expenses, childcare expenses, education expenses, work-related expenses, and adoption expenses.
  • We recommend using a qualified tax professional, like the ones at FM TaxHelp LLC.

  •  Determine what type of business or entity return you need to file. If you need help, ask the experts at FM TaxHelp LLC.
  • For any business, if you have employees or laborers FM TaxHelp LLC can assist you in preparing, filing, and providing appropriate employment information returns to those people.
  • For a sole proprietor business, you may choose to receive a separate EIN, particularly if you have employees. List the names, addresses, and identifying numbers of your employees or any gig workers document your business income and expenses separately from any other income and expenses.
  • For any other type of entity, you should receive a CP575 from the IRS that shows what tax forms are required and when those forms are required to be completed. Document your income, appropriate expenses, and other helpful information. Ask FM TaxHelp LLC to help you.

  • If you prepared your return, FM TaxHelp LLC can assist you with amending your return to correctly state income and allowable expenses to the IRS and any relevant states/municipalities.
  • If another preparer made the error, we can still help you amend the return and respond to any IRS or state inquiry using the accurate information you provide.

  • Employment informational returns (Forms W-2, 1099-series forms, etc) are due by January 31st every year.
  • Partnership and S Corporation returns (and any taxes associated with them) for calendar year filers are due by March 15 every year.
